ABOUT
mddl School is taught by local experts, all over Canada.
8 hours
Empowering people with the education they need to implement middle housing in their backyards is at the core of our work. Our model isn’t speculative or experimental. It’s shovel-ready, municipally-tested, and immediately deployable. For too long, Canada’s housing system and engagement methods have treated communities as obstacles, not collaborators. But when you equip people with the right information, and show them what’s possible on their own lot, in their own neighbourhood, everything changes.
Our full-day course is taught by local experts in land acquisition, development, design, financing, and policy. You will learn what you need to know to deliver Middle Housing, be connected with experienced professionals who can help you along the way, and meet likeminded people at various stages in a single shared journey.

What our graduates have to say
What is middle housing?
While many definitions exist, mddl considers middle housing as a range of housing types that fall between single-family homes and apartment buildings. These types of housing can include townhouses, duplexes, and triplexes - generally with at-grade entrances and no elevator core.
